add the " mark for inches or the ' mark for feet. It
messes up the calculation and you will get weird results, and probably an
error message.

To get a
measurement on the calculator in square feet:
Enter the measurements in inches.
Divide the result by 144 (there are 144
square inches in a square foot) to get the number of square feet of
tile you will need. Example: Your results above = 360" (360 ÷
144 = 2.5 sq. ft.)
OR
Enter the measurements in feet by dividing the
number of inches by 12 . Example: 20" ÷ 12 = 1.6 ft.
